i grew up on the orara river (19 years) and pretty well know it like the back of my hand (if you want i can point you in the right direction there), but the bellinger, i would be looking towards brownlees lane.  good bream, bass and occasional jack.  even better bull sharks that steal bass.  good time of the year to fish this system, but if you get the chance, get out to warrell creek, the best of the bass fisheries around there in the past couple of years, all surface too.

cheers

hey pete
if you can get some of those tiemco soft shell cicada's, that is what they cannot resist.  good to see an early cicada season, it only means one thing...... surface bite.  coming down soon for a couple of weeks, chuch the barra in the dams and im out of here.  looking forward to some awesome bassin.

cheers

they are the goods.  fished with s morgan with them in the upper tweed and mate they were probably the best bream surface lure going around.  also try the stick minnows, both in the floating and sinking.  quick rip and pause.  never seen a bass hit a lure harder..  awesome fun.  enjoy.

cheers

Sorry i havn't been on line for a while , with all this rain were having i havn't had much luck getting out for a fish . got a new reel off ebay and finally tried it out last saturday at the bottom of clarrey hall and caught a nice fat 38cm bass on a surface lure . The reel is a daiwa sol 2000 with 6lb braid and 9lb leader and a berkley dropshot 6ft 6 rod .

What river are you planing to fish?
Bellinger, Gleniffer/nevernever or Kalang?
the upstream side of gordenville crossing is a nice stretch of water but its best fished with a yak or canoe, its a few kms out of Bello on the main road heading towards Thora and Dorrigo
