Title: Severn River- Ashford Cod Fishing
Post by: MartainV on December 13, 2013, 10:50:44 AM
G'day folks.

I'm heading out to Ashford next week for a canoe and C&R cod fish with a mate.
I went last year briefly and did a little bit of fishing (mostly beers and relaxing haha), and turned up a couple (I've attached a photo of a little one).
I don't know anyone from the area and wondering if there is any useful things about the local area that I should know?
(e.g. hardbodies vs. spinnerbaits vs. softplastics, colours, times, lure-techniques, regions).

We intend to fish the river from town back toward Pindari, but am open to ideas.
Will let you know how we go  :)

Cheers  :youbeauty

Welcome to Sweetwater Marty. Throw everything you have at them mate, as long as you have something in the water. Should soon work out what they are keen on. Nice part of the world up that way, just beware of the natives.  :Hunting)

Cheers Andrew

Thanks for the reply guys  :thanks
We had a tops few days. Only managed a couple of fish with a fair few missed strikes and follow-ups, but it was excellent country and I learnt a heap.
Biggest problem was with the storms that Pindari had been opened, and so the river was a bit swollen. It made the fishing a little tough, and we capsized once  :Clap) Didn't lose any gear though which is a plus  :)

Great area though, and was a heap of fun. I'd love to meet someone who could give me access a little higher up the river though!
Maybe that's something for the future. :)
