Title: Bit of an Oddity
Post by: Brett Guy on January 04, 2013, 09:16:28 AM
Thought some of you might be interested in this sooty I caught the other day. This colour variety is not common but turns up now and again if you fish the right area of the right system. This one has pretty good colour but the odd one is far better.

Looks almost like a sooty grunter  / coal grunter hybrid.

Funny you should say that. I spotted one while yakkin down a different creek(same system though) a week or so ago. Had heaps of white on it.

Mate of mine keeps teasing me saying he has seen the white/black morphs but is yet to catch one.
There are some pure gold xanthic ones in that system  ;)

I've caught some that have a purple tinge to them and in the same water some that tend towards green.

Yep. I have had a pure gold(or very close to) follow my lure once. They are there.
