Still up north
« on: May 27, 2011, 09:04:56 PM »
G'day crew,
The weather up around Cairns has been a little cooler last few days. The daytime temps are up around 26deg but it get a mite chilly at night. I don't know what it gets down to 'cause I'm wrapped up. The water temps have been OK though usually about 25 deg. I went out for a fish yesterday in the salty stuff and picked up a Barracuda on the troll. The bait fish on the surface were looking very nervous, as well they may this thing left the paint on a Bomber lure looking like a Holden after Yasi! Had a look up the Port Douglas Inlet today and had to steer around all the charter boats with fisho's of various ability flinging lines in all directions. I would not have that job for anything. Looking forward to getting down to Hinchinbrook and hooking up with Brett Guy for some JP angling.
Cheers,
JD

Funnily enough the only time I fish for JP's is over the late autum winter and early spring. Mainly due to the fact that the creeks are generally unfishable over the summer with mmassive volumes of water flowing down them. They can go a little dead in the spring if there has not been any rain which causes low water levels  but aprt from that have never had a problem getting them.

There you go blokes Brett's come up with the answer. I am full of optimism, which probably puts Brett under pressure, but he can handle it. Brett I'll be checking in down at Lucinda on Thursday, so any time after that will work for me.
Cheers,
JD

Dick she's got everything going for her great set of lungs too, you can hear her for miles. Solid little critter too. Brett, I remain cautiously optimistic, hoping you didn't scare 'em all after your last great success. Either Sat or Sun will be OK with me mate just let me know where you want to meet up.
Cheers,
John
