Locality: Upper Ross River
Activity: temporary closure of river, bridge duplication construction
Refer to notice: 464 (T) of 2010

Mariners are advised that a temporary closure to a section of waterway within the Upper Ross
River, in the vicinity of Vickers St Bridge will be closed to navigation due to the bridge
duplication works of the Douglas Arterial road project commencing 28th May 2010.
The area of the Upper Ross River identified for closure to navigation will be from approximate
position latitude 19° 19.772' S, longitude 146° 43.723' E, which is approximately 100 metres
upstream of the Vickers Street Bridge, to approximate position latitude 19° 19.627' S,
longitude 146° 43.709' E, which is approximately 50 metres downstream of the Vickers St
Bridge.
Temporary aids to navigation have been placed t these positions indentifying both the closure
and the end of navigable waterway. These yellow special mark buoys each exhibit the
characteristics Fl Y 2.5s
Construction works detail that a bunded wall will close off the river completely with a series of
transitional weir pipes installed to allow continued water flow during construction of the bridge
pylons.
The closure of this section of the river to vessels will remain until 01 July 2011.
Mariners are advised to adhere to local council directives when navigating in the vicinity of this
restrcited location
