It used to be on the SIP bit is no longer . Its main purpose is as an irrigation storage , and as such gets drained to virtually zero during dry periods . Has not been stocked since the drought ( unless the caravan park owners have paid to stock some since ). While at high water levels , the ski boat crowd infest the place. I have not bothered to fish there yet .

Cheers,
Dave.

One of the Stocking Association's original plans for Atkinson's Dam was to built it into a world class Saratoga Fishery.  'Toga were released there, along with Golden and Silver Perch.  Atkinson's is an irrigation supply, and as such, if there is water in the dam it is released to the irrigators downstream.  For many years this meant the dam was empty and not worth fishing or stocking.  The last time the dam was stocked it was drained shortly afterwards, so we haven't stocked it since.  It may be best left to the noisy crowds.  Fitzy was very attached to the place a few years ago, to the point that he had Saratoga Lodge right on the water for a while.

i grew up in the Atkinson Dam area and as a kid fished it every weekend ,we'd catch mostly spangled perch ,eel tailed catfish and eels there.since it dried up completely during the drought i'd say all the Toga and silver perch that were stocked there would be gone but the other species mentioned would have come back when buauraba creek flooded back into there.
