Lake MacDonald
The dam has been dropping dramatically! The fishing has still been good. Most of the fish have moved out into the open since the water levels have dropped so much. The fish have been biting mostly on little max blades and Smak spinner baits. The bubble trail has been the place to fish. Most of the fish have been sitting on the bottom so it’s imperative to keep you lure as close to the bottom as possible. Borer creek has been fishing well late and early in the morning. Surface has been a little bit slow but casting TN 60 Jackalls in brown dog and Purple rainbow colours and Lucky Craft LVRTO -50 vibes in Natural Gill and To Gill colours will do some damage. Drew Fogg, one of our regular customers, has been catching plenty of fish and he was lucky enough to hook and land a nice lake MacDonald Saratoga!

Lake Borumba
This dam is by far my favourite place to fish and at this time of the year it really starts to heat up. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been lucky enough to get out the dam on a couple of occasions. Both trips we have caught around 30-50 bass and its some of the most exciting fishing I’ve had in a while. I was lucky enough to head out with David Green, Matt and Dylan Mott from Smak lures to Somerset dam a couple of weeks ago to learn how to use spinner baits in the deep and I was that keen to give it ago at Borumba to see how well it goes. Sure enough it’s a deadly lure on Borumba deep water bass. The start of trees (junction) is where most of the fish schooling bass are. They’re still suspending in the tops of the trees and with this technique it’s probably some of the most insane fishing I’ve done. The technique is pretty simple cast the spinner bait out let it hit the bottom and slow roll it all the way back to the boat.  I’ve been using a 1/2oz Smak spinner bait in the KS colour. So make sure you drop into the shop and grab some Smak spinner baits and get out to the dam and get into the fish.
