So were after golden perch in lake wivenhoe been to hamon cove 3 times and none yet . Are we in wrong area of lake for perch? Any advice would be appreciated , got the 65mm boomerang lure today I trolled it from boat ramp to other side and zig zagged up to entrance of cove and back from 5pm till 6pm . Also just fitted hooks to a green lake lure just before I'm going to try that one in morning 5:30am , any one know how deep it is here , 20-40 feet ? Looking at trying Aussie made lures as none of the lures I brought overseas are working here . any more tips would be good .

I dont kno wWivanhoe, but best spots for yella's usually involve structure, be it trees, rocky banks etc.

Sounds delicious. A lot of people tend to forget that the stocked dams are a put and take fishery and the preparation. and eating of the catch are all part of the process.
As an aside today the PRFMA are releasing 150k of golden perch fingerlings into Lake sampsonvale

Persistence gets the Perch Joey  :)
150K Yellas with most likely <1% of them taken, hate to have to clean up the mess between the dam wall and the weir when they entrain on the next flood event Ray.

The old Yella is pretty good on the chew.  I'd prefer smaller fish to eat, before they build up too much fat.  30 to 35cm is pretty much perfect.

Trick of one of the station owners  out longreach way who was not fussy about the size ,fat content or how stagnant the waterhole they came from is to roll the fillets in a mixture or flour and curry powder. When you have not had a feed of fish for 6 months they taste pretty good.

Gday
Just got this 3.5 metre diving lure any good for perch ? Was thinking it might work if they don't take deep diving lure like boomerang ultra deep 7 metre minnow . I'm really interested in Australian made lures now , they are designed for our fish and Australian environment after all .

G'day Joseph
I have found yellas like purple SMAK golden child lures in Wivenhoe. (You can use any colour you like as long as you like purple)
Usually trolled along the rock faces or steep banks.
Hope this brings you some more success.

Cheers
Scott
