Bass the sulking over
« on: October 05, 2010, 06:53:44 AM »
Been out of action for the past week or so due to a fall on slippery rocks after getting through a barbed wire fence, like a fool I grabbed the barbed wire to save me but had to let it go when it bit me and take the fall, put an old back prob in pain again.
Anyway back on the water at NPD and was pleased to see that the bass that had been sitting sulking at 40ft in 60 to 70ft of water finaly got hungry and came up higher in the water column. These fish for the past few weeks would not take any choice of lures and not even take a shrimp. I trolled around picking up bass from several locations and was up to 16 before I stopped for some shrimp fishing and a bit of tagging. During this I had 3 tripple hookups which resulted in 3 stuff ups of line and rigs, fish were quickly released without tagging in these cases. I then got back to the trolling picking up several more bass and the last fish for the morning was a nice 53cm yella on the way back to the ramp. All lure caught fish was on lures that cost less than $5 each. 28 bass and one yella on lures with 2 bass over the 50cm mark and 29 bass on shrimp. 58 fish put a smile on my dial and made me forget about the crook back.

Fish while you can

What a fantastic session and would have tested the old injuries, but also take the mind off them at the same time.

Its good to have a fun day now and again, we have been waiting for these fish to get hungry and come up closer to the surface for a couple of months. Soon as they get sick of dodging lures they will prob head back down again.
