humminbird problems {topic solved}
« on: August 20, 2011, 02:51:41 PM »
I am having great difficulty managing my new 788cxihq.
It did not come with a user manual only a rotten cd.
I am currently waiting for a hard copy to arrive in the mail but am really struggling running back and forward between my computer and unit, ( I dont  have a printer and there are 180 odd pages in the manual)
My latest problem is trying to see if there are any updates avail. I have registered the unit and when i log in I cannot see anywhere on the site to check for logins.
I seem to remember somewhere on sweetwater on how to do this but cant find it either.
Could someone please give me detailed instructions how to check for updates. ( I am basically computer illiterate so need details )
 Thanks
 Ray

I have registered my purchase and have a username etc and have had confirming email about warranty but I cannot find any " my account " section onhumminbird au site.
If i go to humminbird.com they do not recognize my username of password and if i try to register on their site i get message invalid unit serial number.
Looks like i will spend another hour or so on phone with BLA on monday.
These sites are so frustrating it took me half an hour to realize that Apt/Suite/# actually means that they want your street number. Especially when the box is after the street name box.
Why cant they Australianise the form for over here after we are Aussies not B@@@@y yanks.
Cheers

Ray,

There is a Humminbird Login box in the middle, bottom of the page. Does it not work when you put your details into this one?

Cheers

Adrian my problem is that when I log into the site I cannot find anywhere to update . There is supposed to be a section under the support banner and its not there. There are only 3 subsections, product manuals, warranty registration and contact humminbird. Probably need my 11 year old granddaughter to visit.,
 Cheers

Righto...firstly check what version of the updates you have on your sounder. That will show up in start up.

Then...

1- If you have registered the sounder got to http://www.humminbird.com/Support/

2- Enter your log in details and click on log in.Dont press enter on the keyboard as this hasnt worked for me sometimes in the past.

3- Your profile page will show up and you will be able to check what version the updates are.For example 778c Update (version 5.320)

4- Click on the download if a previous version and save it to the desktop.

5- Drop and drag that update from there to a blank SD card.

6- Restore your defaults on your sounder, turn it off,put the card in the slot, turn it on and Bobs ya uncle.

Its very easy.

Toddy
That is the american site that will not recognize my email/password yet the aussie site does.
I have tried registering on the american site and it tells me invalid serial number .
I am going to ring bla tomorrow to see if i can sort it out.
Thanks for trying to help.
 Cheers

HOORAY  :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty :youbeauty
I have finally cracked it.
The australian site wants the serial as a complete number without any hyphens.
The american site wants the hyphen inserted before the last 4 digits.
I have registered on the american site and been able to check for updates ( there are none after all that)
Thanks everyone I am now going to have a highland park to celebrate.
