Hi all.Well we've tried Wivenhoe without much joy,so thinking of trying lake dyer for yellowbelly.I've only been there once and parked in the first carpark we came to.Any directions from there would be greatly appreciated. We did see a boomgate thing to the right on the hill but it said no entry.I've heard of a rockwall there somewhere.if its any good, directions would be great. Thanks for any help.Marty.Oh yeah-we are land bound.no boat yet.

Same as at all SEQWater owned / operated dams / lakes. You are only permitted to access the shore line in the designated recreation area. That is where there boat ramp / park is on the southern side of the lake.

I would think the rock wall people are talking of would be the dam wall, however you will need to check with SEQWater where the rec area finishes, there's probably a sign there that tells you.

In summer I wouldn't bother with Lake Dyer as the lake lice are there in force turning petrol into noise and waves. Winter they tend to hibernate so is better for angling.

If you can go there early in the morning or late in the afternoon there will be less boats & jetskis. (Gates open between 6am & 6pm). That might be a bit difficult with an 8 yr old. If not, drive over towards the office building in the camp ground and there is a shallow bay there thats a bit quieter. Try worms and you might get a silver perch or 3 and eel-tailed catties. Do not go on the wall as you will be asked to go.
