wet week
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:09:53 PM »
I thought that vocal group Wet, wet, wet were headed this way.
Old Hughie certainly laid on the extras but must have gone for a leak a coupla times as it actually stopped here and there.
But not for long.
It was also an old friends week.
Robbie Bush from Dubbo, well known shearing industry identity.
He lobbed with a assorted softs but had a bit of a cull when learning my boat was a Squidly free zone.
We got some fish during a sunny morning the day before it started raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock.
They were average 90cm models that took Berkley Mullets.
Jannine Saunders shared the boat for the two morning and soaking afternoon sessions salvaged from the rest of the week.
It was good to have someone aboard who could rig, cast, fight, lip, measure, photograph (with help) and release.
Her best was a bronze swamp dog that went the metre and (ouch) left it's mark.
I learnt a lot.

Great stuff mate.

Just tell JAnine that 'swampdog' must have been a TITANS supporter.  ;)

Some nice fish there from tough looking conditions. We have the same problem up here with the rain and I can,t see it changing this year(except for getting even wetter). Any particular patterns emerging down that way yet coming into october?

Well done Harro, Jannine and Robbie!

Some nice looking fish caught in tough conditions. That Bronze medallion is definitely a Swamp Dog!

Do you mind me asking what geograghic landscape was she caught in? In the upper reaches of a creek or more deeper open water? I was just interested in her dark appearance and was pondering what type of terrain she may have been spending her time during the cooler months.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Dave

It was good to drop by & say G'day Rod - been a loong time.

It was a wet week & we struggled on the fish front as well - with three for the trip 95, & 2 at 98cm. Still great to be back up there & I look forward to our next trip already.

Regards Scotto

Up in the Boyne backblocks, mate.
All that rain has risen the lake and refilled some old creekbeds.
Some fish seem (so we guess) to like life in the weeds.
A number of similar locations worked - but, chalk and cheese - so did the deepwater edge between the two ramps.
