Smiling at Borumba dam
« on: February 06, 2011, 09:21:03 PM »
After a 4am setoff from Brisvegas, arrived at Borumba at 7am to find only one boat launching from the boat ramp.  This was after deciding not to stop and paddle along Yabba Creek.  The pics show the amount of debris and damage.  Will go back in a couple of months to see how things have improved.  The water condition on the dam was fairly clear with a fair bit of weed, but not much debris. After spotting a nice reed bank amongst some trees, began casting and lucky number 10 landed my first 65cm Saratoga – first one ever! Yay!!  After a few somersaults and a good fight, I radioed my kayaking buddy, however he was too far away to reach me in time for the photo, so I measured and took pic myself before releasing back into the water.  I am sure it smiled for me…haha.  My first visit to Borumba, but won’t be the last….

Oops, sorry about the "mate" tag, but I guess it's appropriate to another fishing person.

Congratulations on your first Toga VG! :thumbsup
Great to hear the roads are open again up there as I had planned to head back up for a couple of days just before we had all that rain.
Beautiful dam and a great spot to camp below the wall for a few days so looks like a trip back up in the coming weeks for me.

Thanks for the top pics!

Cheers.

The first 'toga can be the start of a very special addiction.  Well done

Well done on the bony tongue. It goes in whatever order you want. If you put expectations on your fishing you might end up with disappointment. Just go & do it & enjoy it.
