Title: Moogerah Dam now Full
Post by: Nativeman on December 06, 2010, 06:44:27 PM
By the BOM tonight, Reynolds Creek .12m above full supply at Moogerah Dam

Unbelievable.... Moogerah Dam is overflowing...Saturday Night apparently the rain fell up on the Mountains up there behind it..Finally it lives up to it's name, The Valley of the Storms.

Gee it would be great if the dams up on the Toowoomba range were to fill next, they might be the only ones left yet to fill...

Cheers

There was a lot of rain around Cunninghams Gap, in fact the highway has been closed for over a day.  I think a fair bit of that run off finds Moogerah.  Hoping Cressbrook and Cooby are getting heaps too.

Dale

I see Savages Crossing is showing as under on the Bom site tonight.... So the river is in flood from the Lockyer creek and Laidley Creek being in flood as I see Oreily's weir is at 1.44 above :OMG

Will we ever get to fish the Brissy River in water that is any cleaner than coffee...Wish it would stop raining but gee we had drought for a bloody long time...

Cheers

missed ya by one day i was there yesterday and it look like a foot if not 2 feet of water above the top lip of the spillway. First time in 19 years everyone is saying so i would have been 3 so first time ive seen it myself.

I was suprised to only see one skii boat tho but i supose give it a week for school holidays to get kicking, hopefully that takes some of the dam lice preasures off of maroon for the yakkers.

Hi everyone,
Do you think it will be any good for fishing just after Chrismas as we are heading up there then. If anybody knows about the good spot to throw a line in could you tell us  Thanks Shane :thanks

That all depends on how many skii boats are terrorising the place but im sure you could pull a few good fish out aswell as the reports ive been hearing, cant tell you any spots myself tho the people ive spoken to are a bit tight lipped about the locations.

Hi Shane, welcome to Sweetwater.
Mate the lake lice will drive you mad, I would get in real early or late to try & avoid them.
Plenty of good spots up in the sticks to get away from the boats, trouble is the jet skis always seem to find you.
If you can get a quiet time, along the bank underneath the wall picnic area is a good spot to try eather from a boat or shore based.
Also below the dam wall is well worth a try.
Good luck & have a good Christmas.

Cheers Andrew

Lake lice - ski boats, wake boats & jet skis.
Will turn a placid dam into a washing machine. :o
