Title: what type of perch are these?

a few months ago i got a spoted perch , and just today got one with stripes

both caught in same area , let any thing small go ofcourse , maybe there colour changes  differnt times of the year?  or differnt sub/ species?

Joey,

The top pic looks like a barred grunter to me..........Bit of an invasive species which I probably wouldn't have let go.  The second looks like a Spangled Perch.  The spanglies put up a great fight!  They go ok on the chew aswell apparently, although I tend to throw them back.

thanks for that info , ive learnt so much this year from sweetwater. about fishing / technics / speices

are there any other types of invasive spices that i should be aware of ? i got a tilapia once thought it was a yellow belly or baby barrimundi cause ive never caught one of them before ,  :Oops)

Agree with Maverick.

Barred Grunter & a Spangled Perch.

Barred Grunter & juvenile Tilapia look very similar when small, both are pest fish. If you get any more stripey fish in the Brisbane River catchment, kill it & don't return it to the water.
