For those who may have known Bazza (Barrie Stark) of Blackwater Tackle (hand crafted lures and rods) in Wombah NSW (on the lower Clarence River) - just wanted to let you know that he passed away Tuesday morning.
Baz was a bass fisherman and a greenie (before they even invented the term) - he was involved with Native Fish Australia from its early days and Bass Sydney, he was also one of the founding members of Valley Watch in the lower Clarence River - which was probably one of Australia's first catchment management groups which was also instramental in getting the acid sulphate soil issue and acid drainage associated fish kills on the agenda for land managers.
Barrie Stark was a 'mature' student when I started Uni as a 17 year old redneck, Bazz introduced me to Blues music, taught me its not what you look like but how much you can make Chicks laugh that attracts them, and shared my passion for Sweetwater fishing (which included convincing me that it was alright to dodge Physical Chemistry Practicals to go Jungle Perch fishing!), I'll miss you Baz, hope the fishing is good and the girls friendly !!

Sad to hear that Jim,
I am lucky enough to own one of his lures and it speaks of his love and understanding of the art.
My thoughts go to his friends and family
