Got Smashed at Collages Crossing
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:05:37 PM »
Just got home from a casual BBQ at the crossing, I dont fish there because I feel it is over fished and all you get is shark and catfish... We had just finished eating when a massive cicada decided to hit one of the girls in the back and start a screaming fit from them.
I ran off to the car grabbed my fishing rod and bag of gear. I only had a crappy spare rod in the car and some limited tackle on me but I put the live cicada on a light jig head and threw it. I walked up the hill about 100m to the table with the line spool open, leant the rod up against the table with my drag on medium and continued socializing... 30 seconds after I sat back down the rod was pulled over the table and I was running after the rod down the hill. Managed to get to the water with it still ripping line off me, it was no Bass or catfish... I my drag was almost at max on a 7000 size reel and I was still loosing line... Then..... Nothing!! It got off.... Not happy... I dont know what it was, the only thing that big in there was sharks i thought, but if it was a shark it would have cut my 20lb braid on the spot... Anyone know of a Lock Ness in the area?

If it really took over 100 metres I'll guess it was a yellowfin tuna
