Title: Warra Weir - Condamine River
Post by: Sweetwater on December 29, 2012, 10:40:19 PM
Warra Weir on the Condamine River

Open to public access. No swimming (according to sign at weir)
No facilities provided, take own water & take your rubbish away from you.
Basic gravel launching next to weir.
Dry weather access only.

Get there via Warrego Highway, turn south at Warra township onto Warra-Kogan Road. Veer left onto Warra Weir Access Road. This is a well maintained gravel road but courtesy dictates that you keep off it if wet as this is also the access to private property just before weir.

Is approximately 6.5km from Warra township to weir.

Water backs up for a couple of kilomters when weir is full.

Fishing: Carp are plentiful, any carp caught should be destroyed and not returned to the water. Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Murray Cod are native to the Condamine River and are also restocked both upstream and downstream of this location.

Spent a bit of time there camping as a kid, mate of mine was going out with a relative of the cockie who owns the property on the town side of the weir. Shot a lot of rabbits (or more likely hares) from memory, nice spot. Didn't wet a line, was to busy riding motorbikes and shooting things.
