Things that go boof in the night
« on: January 21, 2011, 06:49:43 PM »
Maybe a second hand title and maybe a second hand fish by the look of its chin, though those markings are common on fish around rocky areas.  Maybe ol' barra can't brake quick enough and headbutt the odd rock when chasing a feed.  Heard you can sometimes see markings on the muddy edges of feeder drains into estuaries where barra sit in wait with their chins anchored to the bottom making a small impression in the mud.  I've looked but not seen anything like it yet but sometimes trees can get lost in the forest.

Got this one in a busy 30 minutes out of a three hour session the other night.  Was fishing a bit of clearer water close to the dam. Since then the little dam's gone muddy and might stay that way for a while now that the monsoon's got a bit fair dinkum.  Was talking to a station owner this morning, he got 210mm overnight and a couple of neighbours got over 100.  The big dam has risen nearly a metre from its lowest point in the last couple of weeks.

Back to the fish; jumped a few of times illuminated by lightning of a storm to the north, once in close with lightning and top of the arc synchronized. A great sight, it pleased me no end to see it.  Dropped a couple more just prior and had a bump or two. It then when quiet just as the wind picked up.  Think that may have been just two things coinciding but not related.

That lure examining the tonsils has got a few now.  If it can hold out until all the paint is ripped off, it might end up being Eatme 2 :)

Nice fish Dick! :youbeauty

Eatme lure was a pretty special lure mate however looking at that picture of the possibility of Eatme 2, if it is anything to go by, it won't be long before it'll be doing more damage on unexpecting Barra like Eatme did before it took pride of place of where it now rests.

;D ;D Yes lures are much akin to gladiators I suppose, long lifespans if they sit around, short for most who enter the arena ;)
