"Original" Eddy Lures
« on: August 09, 2012, 06:42:22 PM »
It's great to see the Eddy Lures being reproduced the same as they once were when made in Toowoomba. BUT (sorry for this) the new ones are being marketed as "ORIGINAL" EDDY LURES which in my mind is a little deceiving when buying lures and is causing confusion with avid collectors. Is it an old one worth collecting or a new one which was made last month?

Original to me would be Toowoomba, not the very nice looking but still replicated (even if from same molds) ones from the new owner in Tassie, JD Lures.

A bit like Tacspo saying "Original Paul Kneller Deception lures" when that would clearly be incorrect.

What do others think? What would be a better term to use?

I saw some of the new ones on ebay the other night and I was thinking the same thing, but I am sure there would be someway to tell what is the original compared to the modern one, they said something on the ad that the eyes are slightly different. But yes it will cause confusion but hey if you collect them for the purpose of fishing it won't matter but if you intend on putting them away you should find out the differences...

Jamie is doing a great job, improving the Eddy range, and bringing the original metal bib back was at the insistence of dedicated Dambuster users who rated the old metal bib model as a better swimmer.
Keep in mind that these 'original' models are a limited release, and mostly painted to order, so we won't see heaps in the shops.
Whilst Jamie has gone back to Dolls eyes he had to totally start again with new moulds as the old ones were shot from years of use.
He has had to resort to Ally in the bib as the same thickness of steel is not freely available anymore, That will be the trick in telling OLD and NEW apart, simple magnet test.

It matters little now. Lures will swim the same anyway.

Sad to see Jamie announce today that he is throwing in the towel and shutting down Eddy Lures / JD Lures.  :'(
