With the oppotunity to have a five day weekend next week I have decided to head west to experiance some of the fantastic Yella fishing that has been reported of late. My only problem is I have never ventured west of Gundi, & with a girlfriend who wants to join me I am after some info on spots to look at. Not after anything too flash but toilets would be good for her. I am planning on taking the tinny & the kayak, so somewhere I could launch the tinny would be good. Hope someone can point me in the right direction,

Andrew,
It depends on how far west you want to go. There's some good stuff on the Darling near Louth on a property called Trilby station. In fact there's no shortage of good fishing along the Darling, but Trilby has it all and comfy beds and dunnies to boot.
Cheers,
John

How about just East of Gundy Andrew? Does that interest you at all and how big is your tinny, is it a flat bottom punt?

I looked at alot of rivers over Easter: MacIntyre Brook, MacIntyre River, Weir River, Little Weir River, Balonne River, Narran River, Moonie River, Barwon River, Bokhara River, Birrie River & Culgoa River. I'd say that almost all of them west of Gundi looked probably too dirty for lure fishing, though I did peg a few spinnerbaits at one lagoon near Goodooga.
Saw fish caught on bait at Jack Taylor Weir & below the Beardmore Dam at St George.

Yetman Caravan Park, $10 a night per campsite. Clean amenities, tennis courts. You may need a 4x4 to launch the boat though, no boat ramp. There is also several reserves east of Gundy, bush camping only.
