Title: Minn Kota
Post by: takrat on September 21, 2012, 03:52:43 PM
G'Day crew,
I just recently fitted a Minn KOta Riptide to my boat and I'm enjoying the experience immensley. HOwever there is one niggler I have about it and that is ease of deployment. This si supposed to be an easy motor to deploy and recover but I'm finding it quite difficult, in the deployment area mainly. Anyone got any ideas? The shaft is OK it's mainly getting the motor out of the cradle up front. Short of smearing it with KY jelly I'm a little stumped.

Silicone spray does the trick.

JD, don't gripe to much, at least it wont self-deploy like they used to 7 years ago  :-[.
A little trick I found with the new ones is to put a little downward pressure on the head, as you push the motor out of the bracket  ;)

You're right there Brad, have to be grateful for something I guess. My mate has a Motorguide and he was going on about the difficulty in getting the Kota to deploy in comparison. I just said that at least I'll get better after sales service. I tried some Lanox on it this morning, works a lot better.
