Qld Lake Samesonvale
« on: October 27, 2017, 08:05:26 AM »
A big thank you to Ray, Rick and Graham for a great day yesterday at North Pine Dam.

Ray invited me to join them, and I got to see first hand that the cricket scores I have heard about are a reality when fishing for bass with live shrimp at NPD. The total score for the day between the 4 of us would have easily passed 200 if I had not been determined to see the difference between lures and live bait. There were 182 fish boated for the day, and I contributed only 3 bass and 1 yellowbelly to that score. ( and one mongrel catfish that the hawk was happy to fly away with ). I did supply a few laughs though, as a few good natured wise-cracks were made about my use of lures, when it was obvious the shrimp was a smarter option. My 3 previous trips, trolling on my kayak have all produced better results, but I am not in the same league as these guys. They have it down pat.

I think I learned a lot yesterday, and I appreciate the opportunity.

Thanks again Ray

Cheers

Paul

North pine dam is a hidden secret bass fishery and so close to brisbane. For the last few months cricket score catches have been the norm for both bait and lure fishos . For the bait fishos the limit of your catch is determined by the number of shrimp in your shrimp traps. For the lure fishos the strength of your casting arm.
Anyone wanting a bait fishing trip drop me a pm I usually go on sundays and wednedays. 2 ruleso nly no smoking and no bananas. Well behaved kids welcome.
