Greedy Buggers
« on: August 09, 2011, 06:29:03 PM »
Was at Hannon Cove today & a couple in a ply boat with a petrol motor were on the water motoring around, thought they were having a good time so ignored it.  Then I saw what they were up to, tied to the wire fence (left of ramp) below water line is a daisy chain system of several red claw pots. Around the corner to the right on the cliff line pots are tied to trees below water line, next major point counted over a dozen tied to plastic bottles. No ID anywhere. Wonder how many they have out ? probably running a red-claw cannery

Hi Denis, I have seen the same elsewhere with no ID anywhere to be seen so any yabbies they have go back into the water but only in the over the top cases, I can understand why people try hide pots from thieves but it can be a cunning alibi.

Put that number in your phone and ring it when you see illegal activity.  It's the Fisheries 24 hour Hotline.  It is the only way to make a difference.
