Thanks for the heads up you inspired me to give it a go this morning.
I ignored the warning sign

And did quite well using live shrimp under a float.
The water was just running over the weir in a couple of spots and made it very easy to just slide the fish up and just enough water to keep the brag mat wet.
The fish were very skinny but only one had any damage si I dont think that many fish went over the wall in the last overflow event.
I released a fair few of them downstream rather than returning them where they came from.
At least downstream they have a bit better chance of survival and possibly may breed later in the year.

Ray, whats your thoughts on why these fish are so thin in there, Ive caught plenty that look like they need a good feed?
-
Too many fish not enough tucker.

Brian, you quite often see that in fat impoundment fish that end up in the river. A bit like the Biggest Loser, as they lose weight quickly the stomach gets the sucked in look but the rest of the body retains it's shape. Natural river fish are normally long and slender.

yeah, just these ones are especially thin Dale, im comparing them to the Bass we get in the south pine, or up in the Imbil creeks.
Ive kicked around the to many fish not enough tucker theory, and I know a lot got caught in that stretch on bait, a heck of a lot, but chucking artificials at times seems like they are few and far between in there.
anyways, any Bass is a good Bass, skinny or not
