Western & Northern Anglers ignored by Fisheries
« on: March 21, 2015, 03:54:14 PM »
It is encouraging to see that Qld Boating & Fisheries Patrol are engaging with the community and stake holders with a series of meetings announced across the state this week. It is quite obvious where our northern & western Qld anglers stand in this regard with not one in-land regional or north Qld meeting being announced in the statement below. Fair enough, there's possibly no need for a meeting about crabbing or trawl fishery at Chinchilla or Mt Isa, however there are plenty of recreational anglers & clubs in our great inland / northern areas that would like have the ability to input on "recreational fishing"  matters.

Come on B&FP, give the regional folks at least some opportunity......

What do you think?? Ed.

Fishers invited to industry meetings
News release | 20-Mar-2015 - Qld DAFF

The Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) has announced fisheries compliance meeting dates across Queensland for the next three months.

QBFP manager Ian Fricke said fishers are encouraged to attend to discuss compliance issues to ensure the Patrol's efforts are targeted to better protect Queensland's fisheries.

"Meetings are being held for the trawl, line, crab, net, recreational and Indigenous fisheries," Mr Fricke said.

"We encourage all commercial, recreational and Indigenous fisher representatives to attend to provide their input.

"This will ensure we are across all the issues that currently have an impact on the industry including compliance and fishing practices.

"QBFP aims to protect Queensland's fisheries and with stakeholder input we can prioritise where to provide our assistance."
