Title: The Duck Pond revisited
Post by: dougout on January 27, 2011, 08:48:48 AM
Following my recent hot cession on The Pond and as promised in my last report, a return trip 2 days ago has only but inspired the planning for a return paddle next week, this cute little dam sure is producing the goods at present.  :D
Didn't hit he water till about 7am on a fine clear sky morning with a light s/e breeze and the bar. around about the 1000 mark. There was only one other angler on the water this day being mid-week and with the majority of holiday makers otherwise occupied we had the place and the bass all to our selves
( our paths never crossed during the day so I can only presume that mr. x, found a fish or 2 as well).
The bite and fish activity see on the sounder screen was a little slower then last weeks mainly overcast conditions cession, perhaps due to the full sun on this day, but by no means disappointing.
With about 8 or 9 bass caught in say 2 hours of slow trolling and flicking to the weed beds plus just generally/lazily cruise'n about enjoying being there pretty much sums-up another pleasant day on The Duck Pond.
First fish of the day (pictured) turned out to be "the" fish of the day. Came in at a whisker under the 1/2 century (49 to the tail).
sorry about the one and only photo being a cr@p self-timer shot. ???

Got some lucky ducks across that way, been a couple of duck pond reports of late, limited catchment and less affected by the floods? Either way looks all good and the fish are willing :thumbsup

limited catchment and less affected by the floods?
basically yes Dick, effectively very little catchment with no feeder creeks, it's one of a few specific irrigation impoundments with pumped/canal feeds from the upper reaches of the Elliot River, been stocked by the Bundy Sportfishing Club for a number of years now.

Nice report Doug, the pond is special and it has produced some good sized Bass for me for yrs now. I d0ont get to fish it at all lately, but your report makes me want to again :)

Thanks for the reminder about what this magic place offers.
