Title: Are there any redclaw at Bowenville reserve?
Post by: Gregted on August 07, 2014, 07:59:03 PM
Hey all,
Thinking of heading out to Bowenville reserve sometime soon and wouldn't mind some redclaw. Can't seem to find any info if any are caught there and if they bite this time of year. ( winter ).
Got some opera house traps and will probably try partly boiled spuds. Seems to be the most popular.

Bloody hell. I hope there's none there..... Redclaw in the Murray / Darling catchment = potential disaster...

Thought that was the case but heard they were in Cooby and Bowenville gets runoff from there. As you say, better their not there. Never caught them myself but they look like big buggers on yourtube and would wipe out crays pretty easy.
Will settle for blue claw/crayfish instead. just want some to keep my aquaponics tank clean.

We have fished Bowenville Reserve plenty of times, Put traps out for shimp & Crays "Blue Claw" Never have seen a red claw yet & hope not too. If you want plenty of Red claw head over to Somersett, Wivenhoe or Cressbrook Dams, Sping to summer is your best opion for good catches. Good luck
