Wash down facilities installed at Lake Macdonald

We all need to do our part to ensure we keep our waterways healthy. It’s not just our bushland areas that are threatened by weeds, it is also our wetlands, waterways and lakes that are suffering. Serious aquatic weeds like Water Hyacinth, Salvinia and Cabomba are very invasive and out-compete local species, seriously affecting the local ecology and water quality. Weeds are able to reproduce from even the smallest of fragments or seeds, and trying to control these weeds is time consuming and costly.

Lake Macdonald, located near Cooroy, is infested with the Cabomba weed. As part of our commitment to the environment, a wash down facility has been installed at Lake Macdonald Park to help prevent the spread of aquatic weeds. The wash down facility at Mary River Cod Park has also received an upgrade.

Lake users are required to wash down their vessels before and after use to assist with weed prevention. Make sure you do your bit to keep our lakes and waterways healthy.Sorry, only registered users can see this content. Please Login or Register.
