Title: Wuruma Dam
Post by: drjfly on January 27, 2011, 09:31:51 PM
Thinking of heading down to Wuruma for a few days starting Sunday (trying to escape the wind). Has anyone got any info on what the roads and the dam is like after the floods? I will be heading down from Mackay.

Regards
Darren

Hey Darren,

I haven't fished the lake since Christmas during the big rise, I think it will be going through some huge changes with a lot of grassy flats going under water where the dam rose from about 17% to 100% in a matter of weeks.

Here is a thread I posted up for the stocking groups annual comp. You might want the give Rodney or Gaylene a call to get a better idea of road conditions and how the lake is fishing. Their numbers are on the flier. If you have any trouble zooming in to read their numbers let me know.

Yeah having problems reading the numbers - apparently my eyes are as old as I am ;)

With a couple of cyclones bearing down on us it looks like a good plan to leave SWMBO and the boy to sort things out here and make a run for it ;D

Managed to get there for a couple of nights. Rodney and I never got to meet up as I left early to get some phone reception with the Yasi bearing down north of home.

The dam is still running over and is very brown. I didn't manage to land any fish but found them mooching around in the shallows (very spooky).
