A mate of mine was up near Rockhampton 2 weeks ago and took these pictures of the Dee river near Mt Morgan. Apparently the old open cut mine has filled with water ( especially from ex-tropical cyclone Oswald) and the state government's relevant authority decided to do a controlled release into the Dee River.
Interesting to know that this contaminated water flows into Rockhampton's drinking supply . Also landholders have reported seeing dead fish , birds and other wildlife in the river. Hope they can keep their stock out of it too. What a disgrace !!! Removal of greentape at its finest.
