Had to look after the mansion for my son for 4 days while he slipped off to the snow for some sking and as its only 30mins to Hinze dam how could I resist. Long story short I visited thurs and sat morn and was pleasantly surprised, it took me a couple of hours thurs morning to get used to the dam again after the rise of 15m of water. Ians island is covered with water with a few trees still sticking out of the water. 132 ft deepin some places and right up the back of some inlets its still over 40ft deep.
Anyway headed along some clear bank and started getting hookups right away on frenzy flickershads. After several on lures the wind came up so I tucked myself away in a little cove and got stuck into them on shrimp. Repeated this on sat only got a lot more on lures as I knew where to start. No whoppers most bass 30 to 43cm but plenty of them, 52 thurs and 63 sat.

Same at Kuwongbah (not that we're targeting them :-[). I've found alot of the weed has died and starting to carpet the bottom. Anoxic?
