whats next at the end of bass season
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:53:32 PM »
With bass season coming to an end soon  :(  is there anything that mite be good to target.  I was thinking of looking into  bull shark fishing around colleges crossing.

I know i can head out to the dam's for a bass session which will prolly happen once or twice however it would be nice to chase something abit closer to home.

Yellowbelly in the Brisbane River.  They got there from the Stocked Impoundments, and, as a Murray Darling specie they don't belong there, so you could do society a favour and try to get rid of them.   Spinnerbaits and Hardbodies are the lures.  I heard there was one over 60 taken at Harpeng Road yesterday.  If you happen to catch an out of season Bass, release it immediately and change lures or move location to avoid catching another.
Threadfin Salmon in the Bremer and Brisbane rivers are another specie worth targetting, again, same story for any Bass taken as by-catch.

Getting a bit cool for bullies, but the brisbane river trout (the ones with whiskers)  are always fun on light gear.
Otherwise your reduced to bream fishing.

Chase cod in the New England region or go find a big school of bass in the dam

Over the ranges for Cod and Yella's for me. Maybe even trout, but I don't have any tweed deerstalker caps.

How big a net do you need Wes.  I got a 20 foot mono that hasn't been used for years.

Is that legal? Never heard of anything bigger than a 12ft.
