Trout Weekend 2015 timed perfectly

Good rain and snow across the Tasmania over the last week has resulted in the brown trout spawning run getting into full swing in most creeks on the Central Highlands. Brown trout spawn between April and July with the peak of the run in mid-May. Inland Fisheries Service staff have noted that fish observed in the creeks at both Arthurs and Great lakes appear to be in very good condition this year.

Trout Weekend 2015 will be held at Liawenee over this coming weekend (16-17 May) and is a great opportunity for interested members of the public to come and see the spawning trout being stripped by Inland Fisheries Service staff for egg collection.
