so ive herd the rumors about the saratogas in swanbank lake from the guys that have been working there for years but never realy believed it till yesterday when i was working and saw 3 and 1 was quite big... i wish they would get rid of the know fishing rule...

Swanbank lake is full of eels. Are you 100% sure that you didn't see an eel swimming along?

I was negotiating with CS Energy about a fish stocking program, they were initially very keen but not to allow angling, but they wanted the fish. In a nutshell, they can't have their cake & eat it too. Won't put fish in unless they allow public access. I recon that might all change when Swanbank power station is finally shut down.

So, officially there's been no fish stocked in there since the power station operators put some golden perch & silver perch & marron crayfish from WA in there around 20+ years ago in a bid to control a parasitic snail that is present in that lake. None of the marron lived long but some of the goldens were caught for some years after. Now is all just eels & spangled perch.....

yeah 100% sure...i was very surprised also...there use to be a guy that worked there that use to release fish in the lake, silver perch and spangled perch,sartoga and a couple of barra...he was there in the mid 90's to 2007... i know theres lots of eels cause i see them nearly every day and see either the spangled or silver perch from time to time. a couple of the boys said they caught golden perch when they were working on the water pump last year on handlines...swanbanks run by stanwell now not cs... i tried to get permission but i asked the big boss(wont put his name on a forum dont want to get my ass kicked lol) but he said no  its a shame they wont let the anglers in..

There is a pretty solid rumour that at least one Saratoga was released in there.  I seem to remember that I was told by someone who knew someone that the fish was caught elsewhere legally and released into the lagoon.   It was around 70cm and that was back when I owned the red Hornet, so it was at least 6 years ago......oops.

the last time i was there , the rule board on the toilet block has had the no fishing rule removed  all so the no no fishing signs along the lake were not there

i noticed the no fishing signs were gone thats why i asked about fishing the lake but i think with the change from cs to stanewell they havent realised or dont care there not there... but security have been told to move people on when they catch them...

My nephew was kicked out, but the cheeky bugger had launched a canoe into the lake!

HAHAHA yeah ive heard theres been 4 canoes/kayakers told to leave...
