Title: First Kayak Bassin'
Post by: Barney on December 24, 2012, 11:56:31 AM
Couple of days ago l took my 8mth old kayak for its first swim. Fell in the water trying to get in it....fell in the water trying to get out of it when l got back hahaha. Got one little 20cm bass though! :)

This morning l took the yak out again. On the water at 730 [slept in...] and caught 8 bass!
All on a 55mm McPerch 'shallow'.
No monster fish , but got 3 over 30cm. The biggest was 38cm. The littleist was 20cm :)
Home again 10am for the mad xmas shops !
What great fun! l love my yak now...  ;D
Cheers,
Barney.

G'Day Barney,

Well done on breaking in the kayak with a few bass. Mate there's bass in every creek on the coast..... Street directory is your best friend. Start out on the easy access point eg North Maroochy River near Yandina. Once you start looking you'll be amazed at the creeks you notice........

Got the young bloke on board?, go down to Ewen Maddock Dam.
Nice little sand beach, swings etc, excellent shady BBQ area. Great place to while away a couple of hours. Might even get your self a bass or toga.
