I'm not sure on the history of the concept / design but this lure but these are being made in Qld.
Here's the blurb on the card
The Climax
ENJOY THE ULTIMATE CLIMAX
FEATURES:
Suitable for Sucker fish, Blow fish and Gummay sharks.
Attracts all female fish - and a minority of "males"!
Uncontrollable deep actin - not always reliable.
Attracts insurmountable interest before the bite.
Ideal for tight spots when cast/retrieved.
Satisfactory climax guranteed.
WARNING:
Point the lure where you want it to end up - backwards could cause injury!
Use extreme care in cold conditions as size and colour could be adversely affected.
If the above should occur, rub vigorously to restore the original size and colour.
Prepare well before casting in the unknown.
To be taken orally. This is not a suppository.
Do not use more than 6 days - it will make the whole week.
WHEN ACTIVATED:
Vary entry and retrieval motions from gentle to quick pulsing movements.
Pull gently - too hard could cause premature reaction.
Ensure "knob" is fully extended when activating drag.
Be sure to properly maintain and lubricate the tackle.
Try another hole if initially unsuccessful.
For best resuts get wet whenever possible.
Keep in box when not in use.
Do not activate during incorrect moon phase.

A fair few years ago I entered the Caloundra Lure and Fly Shootout, I was the only one man team so I called myself Team Master Baiter. Peter Flynn from Caloundra Marine presented me with a Climax at the beginning of the comp. I have a photo somewhere of a Bass I caught at Cressbrook on a Climax.

Did that bass have eyes like a teenager in a strips club?

I think he may have been a little cock-eyed, but he had great foresight

Looks and sounds like a remake of the Deep Driver originally made by Joe Priest many years ago.
