Installing a Transducer
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:34:12 PM »
This may have been discussed before, but I was reading on another fishing site about tempoary installation of a Transducer.

The method was to have a piece of foam plastic stuck to the area of the kayak that should be suitable.

The shape of the Trans, cut out of the foam plastic.  Obviously a neet fit.

A good dolop of petroleum jelly into the hole and press the Trans into this.  Tape this in place for the day you are fishing.

I need to have a tempoary setup like this as I want to use the sounder in the Canadian and also a sit in Kayak.

Is this worth a try ?  Has it been done before ?

Thanks for any comments fella's.

Gordon

I guess that is an over the side installation, I am hoping to keep it inside and out of the way.

I will give it a go.

Thanks

There have been a few previous posts about a portable set up that hangs the transducer over the side on an arm . Maybe worth looking up.

Instead of filling the well you have made with petroleum jelly, just use water, push the transducer down and squeaze any air bubbles out from the well as air bubbles is what will give you false readings.

Easist way is to just sit the transducer on the floor of said canoe / kayak & splash some water in.

fitz..
