The Daly River Experience
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:22:10 AM »
I have just returned from spending a week with a couple of mates in the Northern Territory and what an experience!
We started at Banyan Farm for a couple of nights and ended up at Douglas Daly where our mate works on a station.
The Daly is a pristine river system and offers a diverse number of species; really opened my eyes up to what industry and pollution can do to the health of our waterways.
The trip delivered 15 Barra, 7 Sooties, a few Tarpon, an Archer fish and a heap of Forkies  (also feasted on Cheriban).
Green seemed to be the colour of preference and it was good to see the Aussie lures working well, namely Little Lucifers (Reidy's), Flatz Ratz (Killalure) and Scorpion (Halco).
It took a while to learn how to bring them in properly and in doing this we lost more than we caught (wish I had of seen Harro's video before I left) but in saying the locals did inform us that it has been a quite season with not a lot of the big stuff being caught.
Anyway it was a brilliant experience and I can't what for next time.

Jason

Some real nice looking country you guys are fishing there.
Have pity on us poor South Ozzies who can only dream of having a Barra fishery in our state.
Gives us the incentive to travel up that end of Oz to get into some quality tropical fishing.
Thanks for sharing with us mate, well done.... :thanks

That is the best kind of Barra fishing, finding your way around some good water. Looks like a great trip Jason. The size of the fish is not important, it's where you catch them.
