Where to try befor buying
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:30:20 AM »
Hi All

I would like to get into kayak fishing, I have been reading the posts for a while and watching the videos, and it looks like heaven on earth.  The biggest thing holding me back is the price of every thing and not knowing what would be the best set up / what I need as there is so much out their.
I am sure I can convince the wife to let me do it but I don't know where to start, is their some wear I can try kayak fishing like a charter before I shell out the one to three thousand dollars needed.

All suggestions are appreciated
 :thanks
James

Adventure Outlet down on the Gold Coast puts on demo days twice a year from memory. Or just go and see them at the shop and they usually can organize a test paddle for you.

Ocean kayak/Old Town do travel around the country and hold "Come And Try It days", usually on behalf of one of their dealerships. Fitzy will probably respond to this post if one is coming up soon.

Also, make sure to attend the Wivenhoe kayak/canoe Convention in September ( only 8 weeks or so away ). The show n shine on the saturday afternoon is a great place for ideas. Plus every year there seems to be more comercial businesses turning up showing off their wares ( also stuff for sale too ).

And if you are looking for a second hand Hobie Outback , I'll have 2 for sale very soon :)

Cheers,
Dave.
