Great Lake Tie-In

With the announcement of Tasmania as the host for the 2019 World Fly
Fishing Championships, fly tying and fishing clubs of Tasmania present the
Great Lake Tie-In (GLTI)
Prominent Tasmanian fly tyers from around the state will be demonstrating
the “Art of Fly Tying” at the, Miena Community Hall on Saturday 14th October
The event has been organised by a dedicated team headed by Graham
Blight, along with members Anna Bellette , Malcolm Crosse and Stephen
Butler from the Tasmanian Fly Tyers Club, with funding support from
Tasmanian Inland Fisheries Service.
The GLTI organiser, Graham Blight, said the Tie-In is open to the public, there
are demonstrations and displays that will be of interest not only to Fly fishers
but to the wider community.
“The Tie-In is a coming together of fly tyers from around the state with over 20
tyers from 8 clubs from Tasmania and Interstate demonstrating on the day. “
“There will be something for everyone including a junior tying bench where
they can try their hand at fly tying. Other highlights will include cane rod
building with Bill Lark, entomology, water ecology and environment including
Wombat Warriors , art work by internationally known Trevor Hawkins and
local artist Danielle Fairfield, photography by Stephen Ooi, material dying by
Tasmanian Fly Tyers Club. There will also be trade displays from local
suppliers and Inlands Fisheries will be in attendance to answer any queries.
This will be a great opportunity for the community to learn and exchange
ideas”. Mr Blight said.
The Great Lake Tie-In will be held at the Miena Community Hall, from 10 am
to 4pm Saturday 14th October. There will be a gold coin donation including
great raffle prizes . Food and bar facilities be run by the Miena Community
association on the day.
