Title: easter turon trout
Post by: messy on April 17, 2012, 09:45:38 PM
I went away for a weeks camping alongside the turon river close to sofala. The last few years down there all ive seen are large carp in the big still pools but a huge recent flush out must have been just what was needed.
I arrived about 4pm friday and after setting up camp went for a quick flick and was absolutely stoked to land my first ever rainbow trout within 3 casts, and dropped 2 more very close to me before it got too dark to continue.
So i set the alarm for 530 the next morning and woke to a perfect sunny morning. I decided to follow the road along the creek down towards the town for a few km and fish my was back upstream in every likely looking section and all i can say is it turned into one of the best days fishing of my life. i stopped counting the fish at 15, all ranging from about 20-50cm and all caught on halco scorpion brown and rainbow trout coloured lures. all were released except one caught later in the day which was delicious. unfortunately i didn't have an way to measure them but here are a few photos. enjoy :)

THose are nice trout mate, and a pretty good start to your trout fishing career. I used to go there a lot when I lived down south.
