Title: Another session at the Duckpond
Post by: Paul Dolan on August 21, 2011, 05:23:46 PM
Had another session up at the pond this time I got up early to do some surface fly :thumbsup, managed to land 1 and lose 2 other bigger fish to the lillies when they wrapped me up.
By far my most favourite way to catch these fish is with surface fly :youbeauty,a long cast up in the ally's of the lillies then a subtle bloop pause bloop pause and smash :youbeauty I'll never get tired of that sound on a still morning.

Got the bites on one of good mate John Schofield's Dahlberg creations.

Should be a awesome spring on the topwater :thumb, a lot of the weed has died allowing flies and lures to fished between the lillies in the ally ways until the weed grows back again in the warmer months.

The Husky Jerk kicked ar$e again using the twitch/pause retrieve but not as well as last week around the moon but I did manage 8 good fish on it.

Got a few more on the Ima jigs and deep fly but couldn't find the big school I had last week, got the smallest cattty I've ever seen  on the Ima Jig :o the jig is 70mm long and I recon the catty would have been 100 -120mm long amazing the size of lure that fish try to eat sometimes.

If ya can go and give it a try you wont be sorry it's a great lil dam with some great Bass fishing.
I'll be doing a few more trips as the weather warms and the surface action fires up some more.

Fitz yeh mate only caught one but it was a lot bigger at about 40cm  earlier this year but never in all the others years I've fished it.
I've done a lot of sub surface fly up there over the years and it usually catches plenty so they may be new to the place.Hopefully they wont get too thick but by the amount of bait fish in there I think they could really take off,be a pitty if they do.
