IFS supports fly fishing program at the Bothwell District High School
IThe IFS is often asked to assist with various programs and events run at schools around Tasmania. For the past two years IFS staff have assisted the Bothwell District High School with a fly fishing unit as part of an outdoor education program in Term four. A donation of five complete fly fishing outfits has assisted students (ranging for 13-17 years old) undertaking an eight week unit learning about the art of tying flies, knots, casting, and fly fishing strategies. IFS staff were present during the fishing practise days at Weasel Plains Dam, and were able to assist the students with fishing techniques, and providing advice on regulations and general angling ethics. A great few days were had by all and what better way to spend an afternoon than helping to spread the magic of fly fishing to the younger generation.
