Please stay away from the water Until the floods have gone Joey.  There are people losing their homes and some people are dying, now is not the time for stupid questions!

Joey, generally fresh water fishing is pretty good as soon as things settle down a bit after a good flood, fishing in the peak is dangerous,  but soon afterwards is usually rewarding. It stirs up the fresh water fish, some of the species will try to migrate upstream, (Yella's silvers cod) some will just hunker down. If it was winter the bass would be inclined to actively go downstream (instead of just being flushed down).

In the river systems it often means fish that have been hiding in inaccessible areas move in to your local waterholes etc replenishing the local stocks. In the dams etc it means freshly flooded areas providing lots of food for the fish, they move in pretty smart to find all the bugs etc that have been flushed out.
