Lake Dyer recreation update

Lake Dyer has re-opened to all water-based activity from Saturday 17 January. The lake is open to boating, paddling, skiing, fishing and for the first time, swimming.

A new designated swimming area has been established at Lake Dyer, providing visitors with safe access to the lake. The swimming area will prove popular over the upcoming Australia Day long weekend.

The designated swimming area is located in the recreation area off Gatton-Laidley Road.

Swimmers are reminded to play it safe by only swimming in the signed area and to be mindful of others using the lake for recreation. As there are no lifeguards at Lake Dyer, it is important for children to be supervised by adults at all times.

The swimming area was established in response to feedback from Seqwater’s Recreation Review.

It is important for swimmers to note that Lake Dyer is an irrigation dam, providing water for agricultural purposes to the Central Lockyer Valley irrigation scheme. This means water levels can fluctuate frequently depending on rainfall or demand from irrigation customers.

For safety reasons, swimming may not be permitted during dry periods when the lake level is low.

Seqwater advises visitors to check the Recreation and Safety notices on its website before visiting lakes and recreation areas to ensure they have the latest information on conditions and closures.
