Baroon agin!
« on: January 11, 2012, 11:21:36 AM »
Took daughter up for a quick session before it got to hot. Was quite surprised how much the dam had dropped in 2 days, nearly 150mm. First photo shows the freshly exposed yellow grass and the top of my shrimp pot left out of the water.
Got 5 bass and a couple of spangleds in an hour or so before the heat got oppressive. Pulled anchor about 8am, home by 10am. Fish went hard this morning, took daughter quite a while to land that 45cm model.

Another great session there Binder there'd be no stopping your daughter now. I've been meaning to get the yak in there now the weather is warming up have you got any tips on where to fish in the lake to eliminate alot of wasted paddling. I realise your using shrimp but I'll be wanting to use lure and fly so maybe a few shrimp flies maybe the go. Any tips would be greatly appreciated Pat.

Not a problem I dont mind putting people on to a few fish.

Spot marked number 1 s where I am currently getting them, but only on bait. I have parked there for hours using every lure in the box and not had a touch while steadily catching them on bait. Its not a huge amount of fish but a good little spot where I am almost guaranteed to get a few to keep the kids amused.

Other spots marked are areas I tend to find fish from time to time when lure fishing. Been a while since I caught fish at them though. (although historically they are regular performers) Look out for a stump sticking a few inches above the water on the one behind the headland to the right of the ramp (in about 20 foot of water) . Around that stump and the lilly pads and weed beds all the way in to the apex of the bay. If the stumps not exposed, watch your motor  ;D   . It was exposed a couple of weeks ago when I was last around there, but the dam has both risen a little and dropped a little since then, so may or may not visible. Might sneak around there for a look tomorrow.

Thanks heaps Binder that's a great help allowing me narrow down my search areas. I would normally target the flats off the ends of points and naturally any timber or lily pad edges but I'm sure you can appreciate that there's a bit of water to cover and I prefer to work an area pretty thoroughly rather than spend all my time paddling. Thanks mate time to plan a trip. Cheers Pat.
