Title: Sight casting with surface lures.
Post by: riverhunter on January 30, 2016, 11:40:25 AM
Gday
With the overcast conditions it was perfect to go surface fishing this morning . I tryed several mini poppers had a few followers but no committed strikes . So chucked on trusty sugarpen 70F with a bit of scent factor to convince the bite. Using 4 lb berkley braid and 12 pound berkley triline for surface work light braid makes for long cast and heavy floating mono leader gives the desired action to lure. When sight casting for mullet the trick is to get the lure past them and judge were to get lure in front of fish with out spooking them once he turned to follow lure i just kept winding very slowly until the take and set the hook on 2nd bump . a bit of fun and beats fishing with bait anyday.
Cheers joseph
