Risdon Brook Dam gets even better for anglers with a disability

The Inland Fisheries Service is committed to encouraging a greater take-up of trout fishing, especially for those who may not have the opportunity to do so.  In the South both the Risdon Brook Dam and the Plenty River adjacent to the Salmon Ponds are designated waters for those with a disability.

To be eligible to fish in these waters anglers should hold a Tasmanian Transport Access Scheme permit.

Risdon Brook Dam which the Inland Fisheries Service has installed and maintains disabled angling platforms was stocked with 300 rainbow trout on Monday 14 September 2015, half of which are of a takeable size.

So if you are a disabled angler, not only is the weather getting better for a day out of fishing but the likelihood of taking home some good sized trout has just significantly improved.
