Central Tablelands NSW - The coming season
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:33:58 AM »

La Niña conditions are waning and El Niño conditions are increasing - which means below average rainfall over much of eastern Australia.
The national outlook for October to December indicates that:
a drier than normal Spring season is likely for large parts of southeast Australia!

So a Dry Spring forecast for the Central Tablelands, the water table is high so any rain that does fall will flow into the streams. Conditions are good at present and with the good flush that most rivers received from last seasons floods this years spawning season should have been very good.
It's looking very positive for the opening of the trout season. Think about the streams you fish don't just rush to your usual spot get out some maps and think about what streams will still be holding fish from dams.
Don't get caught out even though we have had some fine weather in Sydney the conditions can change very rapidly in the Tablelands, last opening weekend was very cold with rain and sleet.
The dams are all near full and my last two guided trips to Lake Lyell and some private dams have been successful with some very nice rainbow trout landed, all fish taking the JCF Ms Simp.

Dam Levels
Oberon Dam 98%
Lake Wallace 100%
Lake Lyell 100%
TCD 98.8%
Warragamba 96.85%

Tight lines for the new season
